When the Goddess Erta spread her power amongst her children and established The Balance, she realized that she would need to have her own Realm Lord, one whose very life would be dedicated to continuing the work that she had begun.  To do so, she spread much of her Spirit power evenly between the Realms, to ensure that her champion would be able to access her power on any Realm.  As a result, Diamond Lani and De’Lani are found throughout the Realms, enabling the Realmwalker and other Diamond De’Lani to move freely between the Realms without losing any of their strength or ability.

The Realmwalkers have all of the minor capabilities and talents that normal Diamond De’Lani have: Delving, Lani detection, Healing and Melding, but also have several abilities that are unique to only them:

First of all,  they can access all of the 16 other Lani Powers of the Realms…anywhere, even in a Realm that is not “home” to that particular Lani power.  Each Realmwalker is unique in the amount of strength and power to which they can employ various abilities, and tend to be strongest with the abilities from their home Realm.  As with all De’Lani, their abilities must be cultivated and practiced to gain the full power that they have available to them, but a Realmwalker’s ability in any given Lani power typically is in line with that of The Realm Masters.

Secondly, they have a high, innate resistance to the direct influence or effect of any Lani power.   While they can still be harmed by Lani powers, most direct attacks upon them easily resisted, or result in very little harm, even those from very powerful De’Lani like Realm Lords and Masters.  This resistance does have limits.  For example, while a Realmwalker might be able to resist the heat of a fireball from The Master of Fire, the resulting concussive force of the blast and being thrown by it will still have its normal effect.  A side effect of this ability is also that this ability also effects positive, or helpful influences, which can sometimes be decidedly inconvenient.

Finally a Realmwalker has is the ability, when wielding The Sword of Angios to “Realm Walk”.  This ability allows the Realmwalker to instantly project themselves mentally to any location on any Realm that they have marked with The Sword of Angios.  Through a process of directing their Spirit through the Sword, the Realmwalker’s Spirit leaves their body and instantly appears as an apparition at the mark.  This form while having no corporeal body, is able to hear and talk, but is unable to physically interact with the environment or others at all.

While this is a powerful ability it has several important drawbacks.  First of all, the mark has to have been made by the current Realmwalker bonded to The Sword of Angios.  Secondly, only the Realmwalker is able to project themselves in this manner.  Finally, while projecting in this manner, the Realmwalker’s body is vulnerable, appearing as if the individual is in a deep sleep.

A Realmwalker is bonded for life to The Sword of Angios.  The Sword not only greatly strengthens the bearer’s Spirit abilities, but it is intelligent and self-aware, after a fashion, and can subtly communicate with the Realmwalker by the use of impressions through the bond.
